WHAT IS GOD’S WILL FOR MY LIFE?
Something my mom taught me is that, while we often wonder what God’s will is for our lives, there are a few verses in the Bible that tell us plainly. So, as we ponder what God’s will is when it comes to which career path to take or which cute guy to date, it’s a good idea to first look at those verses and make sure that our lives are aligned with what they say; the rest will follow.
Knowing this has been life-changing for me, so I wanted to share them with you just as my mom did for me! I think there’s joy in how straightforward these verses are, so I want to simply share them with you rather than attempting to include commentary. If you’re someone who overthinks this sort of thing (as I once did), I hope some of your weight when it comes to this topic is lifted and you are encouraged as you get to know more of God’s will for you! <3
Bible Verses on God’s Will
1 Thessalonians 4:3-6 “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
John 6:40 “For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”
1 Peter 2:15 “For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people.”
Other Encouraging Verses
Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
1 John 5:14 “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”
As always, TYJ.
